A Philosophy of Change
Change is inevitable. Dr. Steffen focuses on helping clients understand change and use it as a force for growth in their professional and personal lives.
Whether you have been forced into making a change for which you didn't feel quite prepared, or need to explore new opportunities, or are resuming a career after many years, it is vital to remember that change can be stimulating as well as stressful. You will be encouraged to be pro-active, to ask yourself, "What do I want to do that is meaningful, challenging, and enjoyable?," and to find out how to get there. Change is not always easy, yet well-managed change can reap unexpected benefits.
Career Decision Making: A Process Approach
This highly individualized career planning process is presented in four phases: Self Assessment; Decision-making and Career targeting; Job search strategies; and Resume writing, Interviewing strategies and Salary negotiations.
You first must recognize that change is inevitable. Investigation and hard work is the first step to reinventing yourself. Your analysis of skills and expertise and exploration of aptitudes and interests will help you research career fields; clarify values for decision-making and develop life-planning skills. Effective time management techniques and coaching support with follow-up goal setting and planning complete the process.
"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face¨we must do that which we think we cannot."
~ Anna Eleanor Roosevelt
